Fundamentals of Mechanic’s Liens and Payment Bonds
Mechanic’s lien and payment bond claims are an important remedy when the project owner or upstream contractor fail to make payment when due. This seminar will cover information to pursue or defend mechanic’s lien and payment bond claims. Topics discussed will include how to address lien and claim waivers, recording and notice requirements, timing requirements related to enforcing you lien or bond remedy, and statutory rights to release liens with bonds or cash payments into court.

Essential Skills for Crew Leaders

Utility and excavation projects get done most efficiently if workers are divided into crews with a common purpose.
When a crew is formed to tackle a particular job, one person is appointed as the leader. This person is usually an experienced professional with demonstrated and exceptional leadership qualities. But an effective crew leader must have specific job skills to run a crew.
NUCA’s Essential Skills for Crew Leaders Training is a two-day, intensive course that trains workers to be effective leaders and communicators so they can provide clear direction to your crew, and plan and schedule the crew’s work to maximize safety, production, and profit.fit

One of the best ways to communicate safety information to employees and to prevent accidents at construction sites is through these important “Spotlight on Safety” toolbox talks. Ideally, contractors should hold safety discussions with their employees on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Toolbox talks reinforce company safety rules, warn of dangerous conditions, and describe safe procedures.
